Two shots were fired just after 2.30 a.m. smashing a downstairs window at the house in Stream Street, Kilkeel. The family - a man, woman and an infant - were not hurt. The PSNI said it was not believed to have been sectarian or racially motivated.

"Anyone who has information about this attack must come forward. The clear motivation for coming forward with information to the police is not only that those responsible for this attack should not be allowed to roam free in our communities, but that today we could have been dealing with the death of a young mother and her baby," he said.
