Shopkeepers in Northern Ireland were today put on guard for a fresh wave of firebomb attacks after a store in Belfast was targeted last night.
The PSNI summoned keyholders to the popular Forestside shopping centre in the south of the city after an incendiary style device ignited. The device caused damage to some clothes in the store.
A PSNI spokesman said: "Keyholders are reminded of the need for vigilance at this busy time of year during the Easter holidays.
"Any member of staff who comes across a suspect object should alert the police. Shoppers who see anything suspicious should alert shop staff."
Northern Ireland has been hit by a series of incendiary attacks at shops and businesses in recent months, blamed on hardline dissident republicans.
During Christmas over 16 devices were planted in Ballymena, Derry, Newry, Antrim, Lisburn and Newtownabbey.
In January, Linton and Robinson agricultural supplies store was damaged in Strabane, prompting a warning from police for shopkeepers to be vigilant.
