Athletics:  In-form Derval O'Rourke faces a tough 60 metres hurdles encounter at the Irish Indoor Championships in Belfast this weekend.

O’Rourke smashed her national record with her first sub-eight second run last weekend as she won as a guest at the AAA Championships.

Now in her build-up to next month’s IAAF World Indoor Championships, she goes head-to-head with Delloreen Ennis-London.

The 29-year-old Jamaican won the World Championship 100m hurdles silver medal last summer and is now attempting to find the same sort of form in the shorter indoor race.

She set her personal best for the distance of 7.92 seconds two years ago, a mark which shades O’Rourke’s superb time of 7.98sec in Sheffield.

Sarah Claxton, the British record holder who was beaten by O’Rourke there, will also fly in for the second day of the meeting after competing in Birmingham on Saturday.
