Belfast to host world dancing event

The 38th World Irish Dancing Championships take place at the Waterfront in Belfast from March 23rd to the 30th.

The 38th World Irish Dancing Championships take place at the Waterfront in Belfast from March 23rd to the 30th.

More than 2,000 solo competitors and 2,000 team dancers from Europe, the United States, Australasia, Britain and Ireland will take part in 35 competitions during the event.

The championships were first held in 1970, and this is the fourth time Belfast has played host.

More than half of the competitors at this year's event will be from outside Ireland, and there will be 314 schools of dance and 11 different countries represented in total.
