A man (47) is due in court in Tenerife today charged in connection with the murder of a woman believed to be from Belfast.
The body of the victim (40), who had been stabbed a number of times in the neck, was discovered on Saturday night at an apartment in Los Cristianos, a resort town on the south of the island.
According to local media the man entered a bar beside the apartment covered in blood and asked staff where he lived. They alerted the police who later arrested him.
He is said to be from Sunderland in northern England and is due in court later today.
