Racing/Curragh round-up:Finsceal Beo dug deep to win the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas this afternoon, while Notnowcato caused a major surprise to defeat Dylan Thomas in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Ridden by Kevin Manning, Jim Bolger's filly had a shade too much toe for the fast-finishing Dimenticata.

In landing this prestigious prize, Finsceal Beo became only the second filly following Attraction in 2004 to win both the English and Irish Guineas.

Notnowcato caused a major surprise to defeat Dylan Thomas in the Tattersalls Gold Cup earlier this afternoon.

In a nerve-jangling finish, Sir Michael Stoute's charge, ridden by Johnny Murtagh, held off the determined effort of the three-time Group One winner.

Youmzain stayed on for third in the hands of Richard Hughes.

Sent off the 1-2 favourite, Dylan Thomas tracked Notnowcato and Fracas for most of the extended one-and-a-quarter-mile trip.

But once Seamus Heffernan went about his business, Aidan O'Brien's charged seemed set fair for another authoritative success.

He had not counted on the resilience of Notnowcato, however, who showed excellent application under pressure.

Given a characteristically robust ride by Murtagh, the 7-1 scorer went toe to toe with Dylan Thomas inside the distance and prevailed by a head.

It was a welcome return to form from Stoute's four-year-old, who made a disappointing seasonal bow in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown in April.

In landing this Group One contest, Notnowcato also franked the form of his Juddmonte International Stakes at York last year when he had Dylan Thomas well held back in fourth.
