Arsenal forward Dennis Bergkamp was today charged by the English FA with improper conduct over his alleged elbowing of West Ham's Lee Bowyer in a Premiership clash last month.
After reviewing video of the incident, an FA disciplinary committee ruled that Bergkamp should face charges over an incident the Dutchman described at the time as an "accident."
Bergkamp was fined Stg£5,000 earlier this season after being found guilty of stamping on Blackburn's Nils-Eric Johansson but unexpectedly escaped a ban.
The 33-year-old has up to two weeks to appeal against the charge and could be banned for three matches if the charges are upheld.
