Dennis Bergkamp has revealed he intends to see out his career at Arsenal.
Bergkamp (33), who has one year left on his contract and has retired from international football with Holland, is determined to go out of club football at the top level.
He declared: "I can see myself finishing my career at Arsenal. The way I feel now, I don't see myself going on for another challenge in a foreign country.
"I'm not so sure about going back to Holland to play there, so the only option is to finish my career here. When that will be, I don't know. I've got one more year left on my contract, so I'll see what happens during the season".
Bergkamp will re-evaluate his options as the season progresses. "It's a long season. You never know how I'll feel in February or March.
"The main thing is to maintain your standards. If you feel that things are dropping slightly, I wouldn't want to hold on and live for just a few moments".
Bergkamp, who joined Arsenal from Inter Milan for £7.5 million in 1995, said: "We've been here for almost eight years. That says it all. We, as a family, just enjoy it. We have three kids now and they were all born here so that says a lot as well".
Striker Thierry Henry again signalled his intention to sign a new contract at Highbury as demolition work began on one site in relation to the club's planned new stadium.
The 60,000-capacity stadium is due for completion in 2005, and 24-year-old Henry told the Evening Standard: "I'm looking forward to playing here, it's quite obvious.
"I'm always saying that I'm happy here at Arsenal. As long as the club want me, I'll be running around here."
