SINCE it opened earlier this summer Kirwan's Lane has become the place to eat in Galway city. Michael O'Grady, whose family owns the famous O'Grady Seafood Restaurant in Clifden, opened the cool looking bistro because, he says, "there are loads of casual places like this in Dublin but none at all in Galway."
His instinct was right. The restaurant was completely booked out during race week Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson entertained a large table of racegoers and actor Richard E. Grant travelled up for dinner from Sixmilebridge in Co Clare where he is filming The Serpent's Kiss.
