Kiki Smith is a highly regarded scupltor, so when she arrived over from the US with her sister Seton Smith (apparently it's the name of the first American saint), to open her show in IMMA, there was a good turnout. Naturally there was a whole clutter of artists including Alice Maher and Finola Jones, both just back from the Re/dressing Kathleen show in Boston.

Finola, who came along with her partner, artist David Godbold, was also chatting about another interesting joint show coming up. Next month, seven Polish artists and seven Irish artists will be displaying their work together, first in the Temple Bar Gallery in Dublin and then in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Poland.

The art world was also represented by David Fitzgerald and John Kennedy, the Kerlin Gallery boys; Elizabeth Mayes of the Irish Arts Review; Mary McCarthy from the Sculpture Factory in Cork; Susan Dunne of Pace Wildenstein, the gallery which represents Kiki in NY; Mark Fletcher of the Anthony d'Offay Gallery in London and Graeme Murray, director of the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh.
