An anti-bin charge campaigner has suffered a suspected heart attack in Wheatfield prison, where he is serving a three-week sentence for breaching a court order.

The Prison Service said the man, who is in his 60s, was rushed to Tallaght General Hospital today, where he is currently receiving treatment.

He is not expected to be returned to his prison cell tonight.

The man, from south Dublin, was jailed two weeks ago for being in contempt of a High Court injunction lodged by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council not to interfere with bin collections.
