The Government will receive backhanded birthday greetings from the Opposition parties this morning on the occasion of its fourth anniversary, writes Alison O'Connor, Political Reporter. The Fianna Fail/Progressive Democrats coalition was formed on June 26th, 1997. To mark the occasion Labour Party leader Mr Ruairi Quinn will launch a poster highlighting "key policy failures" by Fianna Fail, according to a spokesman.
The deputy leader of Fine Gael, Mr Jim Mitchell, is to personally deliver a giant birthday card to the gates of Government Buildings this morning. According to a party spokeswoman it will have a "special message" inside.
