EDINBURGH - The Bishop of Edinburgh yesterday defended his right to speak out on political matters after being attacked for publicly endorsing Labour. The Most Rev Richard "Holloway, head of the Scottish Episcopal Church, was attacked by Scottish Tories yesterday for saying in The Church Times that Labour offers a chance "to transform the unjust reality of Britain today". Said the bishop: "The real issue is our ambition for a better society and how to achieve it, and not whether bishops, or anyone else for that matter, have a right to speak about such subjects."
