Dublin's Blackrock Clinic has announced plans for a €100 million expansion that will see a 42 per cent increase in the number of beds.
The private hospital's expansion will include a three-storey extension to the facility and a multi-storey car park. It will bring the total number of beds at the clinic to 160.
When the project is finished, Blackrock Clinic will accommodate all patients in single rooms.
There will also be two new operating theatres, a day-care floor. The expansion is expected to create 100 clinical and administration jobs in the hospital, bringing total employment to 650 people.
The extra floors are set to be finished towards the end of 2009. Work on a new multi-storey car park is already under way.
Blackrock Clinic came into operation in 1984.
