Blackrock College stormed to the summit of the AIL Division One table today after their win away at Buccaneers which included a crucial bonus point.
Rock made the most of the wide open spaces at Ericsson Park in Athlone, running out 29-11 winners and now hold a slim, one point advantage over Ballymena and Clontarf, both of whom also enjoyed victories this afternoon.
Ballymena maintained their tilt at the league with an impressive win over Belfast Harlequins who made the short journey up the M2.
Three tries, courtesy of Greg Mitchell, Paul Shiels and Huw Jones did the damage, while seven successful kicks from South African Dirkie Strydom added the gloss.
Galwegians, who led the way this morning, suffered a rare home defeat at the hands of Co Carlow and slip to fifth in the standings.
Elsewhere, Lansdowne secured their third win of the campaign, subjecting Cork Con to their second defeat in a week while Terenure remain rooted to the bottom of the table after UL Bohmenians took a narrow win at the Lakelands.
