Prime Minister Tony Blair said today Britain could still join the euro zone but that the decision was subject to five key economic tests.
"The five tests remain and the policy remains unchanged," Mr Blair told reporters at a Labour news conference ahead of a May 5th election he is expected to win.
"We should keep the option open but only take it if the five economic tests are passed, I don't think there's any point in speculating if they might be or might not be," he added.
Chancellor Gordon Brown has effectively put the euro question on the backburner by ruling the five economic tests he had set for membership were not met.
