British Prime Minister Mr Tony Blair has told Afghan tribesmen there is a $25 million reward for turning in Osama bin Laden.

Speaking on BBC Radio's World Service, he said: "There are people in Afghanistan who could help us. There is a very substantial reward, worth millions of dollars for his capture, for him being yielded up".

He said on the Pashtun-language BBC programme - listened to by millions among Afghanistan's largest ethnic group - that Afghans should unite to throw off the Taliban rule.

"It is important to realise we want Osama bin Lden and his al-Qaeda network. If people want to gain stability for Afghanistan, it's important this terrorist network is shut down," he said.
