The British Prime Minister Tony Blair will today continue his reshuffle of ministerial positions outside the Cabinet following Labour's General Election triumph.

Among the confirmed changes to the cabinet, Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott was moved to his own office in the Cabinet Office, while Mr David Blunkett becomes Home Secretary.

Mr Jack Straw replaces Mr Robin Cook as Foreign Secretary, while Mr Cook becomes Leader of the House of Commons.

Mr Stephen Byers becomes Secretary of State at the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions.

A new department for Environment and Rural Affairs has been created and will be headed by Ms Margaret Beckett.

Ms Estelle Morris will take charge at the new department of Education and Skills and Mr Alistair Darling heads another new department for Work and Pensions.

Ms Tessa Jowell takes over from Mr Chris Smith as Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport. Ms Patricia Hewitt becomes Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Minister for Women, while Ms Hilary Armstrong is appointed chief whip.

Former Home Office Minister Mr Charles Clarke assumes the post party chairman. Former Agriculture Minister Mr Nick Brown is the Minister for Work and will sit in on Cabinet meetings. Mr John Spellar becomes Transport Minister.

Mr Godric Smith from Downing Street and Mr Tom Kelly from the Northern Ireland Office assume joint responsibility as the Prime Minister's official spokesmen while Mr Alastair Campbell becomes Director of Communications and Strategy.
