World Cup linesmen were criticised by FIFA president Sepp Blatter in Yokohama today.
The 66-year-old said while there had been no problems with the refereeing in the World Cup to date the same could not be said of the linesmen.
"A major problem in football at the professional level we are playing are not the referees but the assistant referees," said Blatter.
"We have to find a solution of how better they can judge offside. This is a point where we have to put our importance for the future," he underlined.
Italy have been the most critical about the performance of the linesmen, claiming they have had at least three goals disallowed by errors over offside.
Blatter has also promised an investigation into the ticketing problems that have affected this World Cup. AFP
