The receiver appointed to a building materials provider has claimed before the High Court it is losing €40,000 a day due to an “unlawful” blockade by sub-contractors who claim they are owed money by the firm.

Kieran Wallace, receiver to Co Wicklow-based SM Morris Ltd, Abbeycove Ltd and Sancrest Holdings Ltd, secured interim orders against 12 people alleged to be among a group who have blockaded entrances to the firms’ head office, a quarry and several sites supplied by the firms. The protest was causing “serious damage”, the court was told.
