The body of a tourist, believed to be a German in his mid 20s, was recovered yesterday from a ledge about 20 ft above the sea on the western side of Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands in Co Galway.
The discovery was made by the Kilronan lifeboat after a two day air, land and sea rescue search. According to gardai, tourists on Inis Mor reported seeing a body in the sea near the cliff face at Dun Aengus. The alarm was raised at about 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The young man was last seen alive on Saturday afternoon and is believed to have been swept off the cliffs by the high winds.
