The body of a woman who went missing two weeks ago was tonight pulled from a river today.
Helena English, 52, from Bray, Co Wicklow had vanished after visiting her brother in Headford, Co Galway.
She was last seen leaving his house at 4pm on December 15.
The Garda Water Unit found a body in a nearby stretch of the Clare River, south of Corofin, Co Galway at 3.15pm.
"The body has been positively identified as Ms English," a garda spokesperson said.
Headford Garda are continuing to investigate the discovery of the body.
Sightings of a woman matching Ms English's description had been made in the nearby Castlehackett area of Co Galway.
Meanwhile, the search continues for a 76-year-old woman who went missing from a nursing home in Co Wicklow yesterday.
Maura Reynolds was last seen at 12.30am after she returned to the Tara Nursing Home in Putland Road in Bray after visiting her family.
Gardaí are carrying out searches in the area with the assistance of the Garda Air Support Unit.
Ms Reynolds is described as 5ft 4in tall with blonde hair and walks with a slight stoop. She may be wearing a purple suit or night clothing.
