The mother of the newborn baby found dead in Limerick last night has not yet come forward, despite Garda appeals.
The body of the full-term baby girl was found in a plastic bag in East Singland Crescent, Garryowen, yesterday at about 5.30 p.m. The body is believed to have been there for several days.
A post mortem is being done today.
Gardaí are continuing their appeal for the mother of the baby to come forward and have said the matter will be treated with sensitivity. It is believed the mother may need medical attention.
