Bohemians 2 Cobh Ramblers 0
Bohemians cantered into the fourth round of the Carlsberg FAI Cup tonight by dispatching First Division strugglers Cobh Ramblers without even having to produce football of any real quality.
Slaughter seemed to be on the menu when Glen Crowe fired the home side into the lead after just four minutes but from then on Bohemians monopolized possession without showing any real creativity.
After a mundane first-half Ramblers staged a brief rally for the opening ten minutes of the second period but were quickly tamed by the stronger and more composes Gypsies.
In the sixtieth minute Bohs sealed their victory with one of the matches few flowing moves. Kevin Hunt broke down the right and slipped the ball to Crowe in the box and, with the keeper sprinting from his line, Crowe unselfishly picked out Trevor Molloy near the back post to tap the ball home with ease.
In tonight’s other fixtures Bray Wanderers defeated Dublin City 2-0 while a couple of late strikes gave Shamrock a resounding 4-1 victory at home to Monaghan United.
