British army explosive experts yesterday defused a pipe bomb left by loyalist paramilitaries on a window-sill of the home of a Catholic family near Coalisland, Co Tyrone.
They carried out a controlled explosion on the device which was inside a sweet tin left on the window-sill of the house at Ballynakelly Road. A couple and their two children, a three-year-old boy and two-year-old girl, live in the house.
The woman opened the box before calling her husband who alerted the RUC. It was the second bomb attack of its type in east Tyrone within a month.
