Special Branch detectives found a document under the pillow of a Dublin man which described how to avoid detection when handling explosives, the Special Criminal Court in Dublin heard yesterday. Prosecuting counsel Mr P.J. McCarthy said the document contained information on the type of materials that could be used for home-made bombs.

Mr Declan Carroll (24), of Edenmore Crescent, Raheny, Dublin, pleaded not guilty to being a member of an illegal organisation styling itself ╙glaigh na h╔ireann, otherwise the Irish Republican Army, otherwise the IRA, on November 29th, 2000.
