Gardaí investigating the activities of dissident republicans have uncovered a quantity of bomb-making equipment in Dundalk.

Gardaí investigating the activities of dissident republicans have uncovered a quantity of bomb-making equipment in Dundalk.

The find was made in a wooded area of Claremont Park in Hagartstown and included a number of detonators, a quantity of detonator cord, bullet-proof vests and other bomb-making equipment.

The area has been cordoned off for a more detailed forensic examination. Gardaí confirmed this afternoon the investigation was ongoing.
