Bombardier, which employs over 6,500 staff in Northern Ireland, has posted a weaker than expected third-quarter profit as lower business jet deliveries hurt the aerospace division of the Canadian transport group.

Bombardier, the world's third biggest civil aircraft makerand its largest train manufacturer, said its net earnings were€133.3 million, or 15 Canadian cents a share,in the quarter ended October 31st.

Despite the lower than expected results, Bombardier'smanagement stuck to its already-lowered financial guidance forthe fiscal year ending in January.

"It must be emphasized, however, that the business aircraftmarket remains difficult and that major US airlines are stillfacing uncertainty," the company said in a statement.
