Denver - A US district judge in Colorado has granted the man convicted in the 1995 bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, killing 168 people, the right to drop all appeals in his search for a swift execution.

Judge Richard Matsch ruled that Timothy McVeigh had until January 11th to send in further appeals. After that an execution date would be set.

On December 12th, McVeigh had informed the US District Court in Denver that he no longer wished to pursue appeals in his case, and he was requesting "the execution date be within 120 days of the filing of this notice".

He pointed out, however, that he would not waive his rights to seek clemency from the US President.
