BOOK launches, theatre opening - forget it - the social moment of the week had to be at the Florilegio Circus in Booterstown, Co Dublin where punters got more than just sawdust and magic when out of the ring leapt half the troubadours to present a birthday cake to a member of the audience - who just happened to be Adam Clayton. U2 went to the circus to celebrate. Good naturedly Bono, Adam and the Edge - we didn't spot Larry Mullen - signed autographs even if it was their night out. Obviously entralled by the exceptional performances and captivating spirit, the band members jumped to their feet at show's end to give the Italian players a standing ovation. Within minute the tent was alive with the player applauding the audience and the audience applauding the players.

When the circus folk sat down midring to eat their pasta dinner and drink Chianti, Bono and Adam joined them for a warm last supper. This is one of the greatest circuses you'll ever see - make sure to gel there before the last show on Monday.
