Bord na Móna today announced significantly improved revenues across all its business activities for last year and a 93 per cent rise in profits.
Figures released for the period up to March 27th 2002 saw the company report a net profit of €16.3 million, making it Bord na Móna’s most successful period.
The company said each of it four main businesses were profitable on an operational basis.
Increased cash flow from operations of €40.9 million compared with €34 million during the previous year.
Group turnover now stands at €227.6 million, up 6 per cent. Operating profit before exceptionals was reported as €23.2 million, up 23.5 per cent.
The strong performance will underpin the continued future development of the Group, Bord na Móna said in a statement.
"The financial outcome in the past year demonstrates a strong emphasis on securing the core financial strength and commercial focus of the company," Mr John Hourican, the company’s managing director said.
"The future will be very much built around developing the potential of our environmental and energy divisions while maximising the traditional fuels and horticulture businesses.
