`The ideal wine for meals with friends," it says on the label of Terrasses d'Elise Grande Reserve, Vin de Pays de l'Herault 1995 (O'Briens Fine Wines, £6.99) - and so it is. It's difficult to imagine anybody not liking this enticing, velvety-smooth blend of Syrah and Merlot, with its hints of spiced plums, raspberries and black chocolate. A marvel at the price.
