The stark white lettering on the dark, designerish bottle just says Masi Valpolicella 1997 on the front (outlets and prices above), but check the back and you'll see this is the real McCoy: Valpolicella Classico Superiore - and very superior it is to a lot of Valpol on the shelves. Supersmooth and fruity, it has a nice little nip of classic Italian bitter cherry character in the finish without being tart. A great choice for light, savoury food of all kinds.
