A teenage boy is in a serious condition in hospital today after the stolen car he was travelling in crashed and killed the 14-year-old driver in Cork city.
A third teenager was treated for minor injuries after the driver lost control of the stolen Honda Civic on the Monaghan Road near the city centre at 12.30am. All three were from the Mahon area of the city.
The car crashed into a barrier on the road and then careered into trees after being stolen in the Ballinatemple area.
Elsewhere, a woman (35) was killed yesterday evening when the car she was driving crashed into a four-wheel-drive in Co Louth.
The crash on the N2 at Knockaleva near Collon happened at around 8.30pm. Three other people, including a child, were injured, none seriously.
So far this year, 184 people have died on the State's roads, an increase of two on the same period last year.
