Gardaí in Nenagh are investigating a traffic collision in Tipperary this morning that resulted in the death of a 16 year-old boy.

The collision happened shortly after 5am this morning on the N7 at Coole, Toomevara, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. The boy was a rear seat passenger in a car that was involved collision with a jeep.

There were 2 other occupants of the car who suffered slight injuries. The driver of the jeep was uninjured. The deceased was removed to Nenagh General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí have advised motorists to take an alternative route if at all possible for the next few hours as traffic on the N7 is reduced to one lane and delays are expected.
