The case of a 15-year-old boy, who took part in a violent gang mugging of a French student, has been adjourned pending a pre-sentence probation report.
He had pleaded guilty earlier at the Dublin Children's Court to the robbery of the French student in Dublin city centre on May 27th, 2005.
Judge Bryan Smyth remanded him on bail until July 9th next pending an updated report.
The case has been before the court a number of times over the last year to allow Health Service Executive social workers to work with the boy, who has no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Michelle Finan said the boy was making good progress which his parents were delighted about.
The south Dublin boy and two friends mugged the student who was threatened with being stabbed and forced to reveal his credit card pin number.
The court had heard that the 15-year-old defendant had learning difficulties and had the lesser role in the offence.
He had been ordered to take up a place in a special residential school outside Dublin but refused to stay there.
During the mugging, three boys, including the defendant, befriended the student and asked him to walk with them.
Shortly after, they robbed his Walkman, mobile phone and wallet and brought him to Fishamble Street. The student was told to reveal his credit card pin and at first he gave them false details.
After he was told that he would be stabbed if the number was wrong, he gave them the correct number.
The trio then brought the student to an ATM machine on Castle Street.
However, the victim managed to get a passer-by to help him and the youths fled.
