A nine-year-old Omagh bomb survivor, Emmet McLaughlin of Buncrana, Co Donegal, met the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, in Downing Street yesterday. He was one of 10 youngsters honoured with a 1998 Woman's Own Children of Courage award.
The explosion in August killed 29 people including Emmet's cousin, Oran Doherty (8), and two friends, James Barker and Sean McLaughlin.
Emmet, who underwent emergency surgery to remove shrapnel from his bowel, and suffered severe burns to his hands and face, said: "Mr Blair was very nice. He wasn't too scary."
