BOYZONE lead singer, Ronan Keating, and RTE presenter, Carrie Crowley, will present this year's Eurovision Song Contest from the Point Theatre, Dublin, on May 3rd.

Boyzone will be the centrepiece of a dance and music interval act. Ronan will join the group to sing a song specially written for the show.

This year's contest is moving from Celtic mist and nostalgia to a portrayal of a young Ireland. According to RTE, the show will be a blend of high tech communications and the best of popular culture.

It will be the largest live television satellite transmission in the world and will be broadcast for the first time on the Internet. From April 12th, an official Eurovision Internet web site will operate.

According to RTE, the Boyzone star and Ms Crowley "embody RTE's concept of a young, dynamic Ireland".

Ms Crowley, from Waterford, presents the youth programme Echo Island and Fandango with Ray D'Arcy on RTE Radio 1.

Ronan Keating, from Swords, Co Dublin, has been with Boyzone since the beginning and has co written many of their hits. He cowrote the song which will be sung at the song contest's interval.

Many countries will be using tele voting, for the first time. This will allow viewers to vote for a song rather than the national juries.
