Despite playing bravely, however, Bray's fate was sealed late on when Sean Hargan nailed the winner 13 minutes from time.

Cork 1 Rovers 1

A late goal from defender Dan Murray left Shamrock Rovers kicking themselves at Turners Cross as the visitors looked destined to gain the upper hand in the race for the Intertoto Cup spot.

Noel Hunt, who leaves for Scottish outfit Dunfermline at the end of the month, had put Rovers ahead in the 56th minute.

Rovers' keeper Tony O'Dowd needed to be at his brilliant best soon after to deny Cork's Dave Warren on two occasions.

O'Dowd was called into action late on to deny Reynolds from close range but defender Murray was on hand to poke the rebound home and deny Liam Buckley's outfit all three points.

Drogheda 0 UCD 1

Drogheda occupy the promotion / relegation play-off spot after falling to a UCD winner three minutes from time at O2 Park.

UCD, who had Alan McNally sent off five minutes before half-time, struck late through Michael O'Donnell who guided John Martin's cross to the bottom corner of the net.

St Pat's 0 Longford 2

St. Patrick's Athletic's miserable season continued tonight after losing out to a rejuvenated Longford Town at Richmond Park.

Having secured a point at Shelbourne on Tuesday night, Town set into an early lead when former Shamrock Rovers striker Sean Francis scored his second goal in as many games with a 17th minute strike.

His strike partner Eric Lavine has endured a miserable season in front of the posts but secured the vitals points with a goal midway through the second half.
