Rivaldo will be allowed leave AC Milan if he asks for a transfer, the club's vice-president Adriano Galliani said today.

The World Cup winner has not started for Milan this season, and media reports in Italy and Brazil claim he is unhappy at the club.

Galliani, who runs Milan on behalf of club president and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, said there was no difficulty between the former Barcelona forward and his club.

"If he is happy to stay with us then he will stay, if however he asks to go then we will let him go. At the moment he hasn't asked me for anything," Galliani said.

Although Milan won the Champions League last season, Rivaldo played little more than a bit-part in the latter stages of the campaign and watched the final victory over Juventus from the bench.

Rivaldo is contracted to Milan until June 2005.
