This is a gorgeous edition of Capote's classic novella, with a still of Audrey Hepburn from the film of Breakfast at Tiffany's glittering on its beguiling silver cover. This is the story of Holly Golighty, eternally travelling, with her actual and metaphysical baggage, and her eternally smitten admirer who happens to live in the same chaotic New York apartment block, and who never quite recovers from the experience of knowing Holly. Cocktails, scandal, secrets, Tiffany's, tragedy, laughter, parties, Moroccan bird-cages, cat-boas, loyalty, sadness, and love shimmer though this bittersweet story of 1940s New York. Like all the best stories, this one ends in open-ended mystery: the reader's guess as to what happens Holly after her departure from New York is as valid as the speculations of those who have known her. Three fine short stories are also included in this edition: "House of Flowers", "A Diamond Guitar", and the poignant "A Christmas Memory".
