Racing:The decision on whether to run Sea the Stars will in the Breeders' Cup next month it entirely up to trainer John Oxx, according to the owners. After a historic sixth Grade One win in as many months at Longchamp on Sunday, Oxx said it was a decision that had to be made after discussion with the owners, but he ball now appears firmly in his court.
Speaking to rubbish rumours of insurance costs hampering travel plans to Santa Anita, spokesperson for the Hong-Kong based Tsui family, John Clarke, said: "John Oxx will decide if Sea The Stars runs in the Breeders' Cup Classic after seeing how the horse is and how he comes out of the Arc. The insurance costs aren't a factor.
"I can say with 100 per cent certainty that one person - and one person alone - will decide if Sea The Stars runs at Santa Anita and that is John," he added on sportinglife.com.
On the colt’s return to Oxx’s Currabeg yard in Kildare on Monday, the trainer hinted the trip to California might be too much for Stars after a long season.
He also insisted that both he and the owners felt the horse had nothing left to prove.
