Tyrone's Ryan McMenamin will serve an eight-week ban after the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) upheld the sanction last night, but Kilkenny forward Eddie Brennan is free to play after he was cleared of any wrongdoing by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC).

The Tyrone defender received the suspension after contesting a proposed six-week ban recommended by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC), but the CHC increased it to eight weeks.

McMenamin was caught on camera grabbing Kerry’s Paul Galvin in the groin area during the national league division one meeting between the two sides in Omagh, on February 15th.

The CHC also imposed a €2,000 fine on the Kerry county board for the failure to control its players after the match. The county board has the right to appeal the ruling with the CAC.

Brennan was dismissed on the advice of an umpire after an altercation with Waterford’s Declan Prendergast in Walsh Park on March 1st.

The latter was banned for eight weeks after striking Brennan with his hurl but the Cats forward contested the CCCC’s recommendation that he be suspended for four weeks for his part in the incident.
