The Ballybunion, Co Kerry, bridge congress will take place at the Golf Hotel from September 8th to 10th. The mixed pairs will be played on Friday (7.30 p.m.); the two-session major pairs on Saturday (2 p.m.); and an extended session of the teams on Sunday from noon to 5.15 p.m.
Open pairs will be run throughout. There will be separate novice pairs on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Entries: Peg Mullins (066-7125775).
The annual friendly match for the Sonya Britton Trophy between the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Bridge Union at the Malahide Centre, Co Dublin, resulted in the former winning by 750 victory points to 683.
