The Contract Bridge Association of Ireland's national major mixed pairs championship for the prize of the president, Michael O'Connor, and the Spiro Cup, will be decided, via the Swiss Pairs system, over three sessions at the Galway Centre on September 16th (1.30 p.m.) and 17th.
The national intermediate mixed pairs (Jim Fitzgerald Trophy) will be run simultaneously, as a separate event, provided there are sufficient competitors. All entries to Paul Porteous (014929666) before September 14th.
The open team championship for the Harry Devine Trophy, with a first prize of £120, will be played over two sessions at Blackrock College RFC, Stradbrook Road, Blackrock, Dublin, on September 24th (2 p.m.). Unlike formerly, teams do not have to consist of members of the same club. There are various special awards, including the Maeve Devine Trophy, for the best intermediates.
