The 35th Ballybunion congress will be held in the Golf Hotel from September 8th to 12th. Open pairs will be run on the Wednesday (7.30p.m.) and twice daily thereafter. The women's pairs will be played on Thursday (7.30p.m.); the mixed pairs on Friday (2p.m.) over two sessions; likewise the major pairs on Saturday. The teams will run from 12.30p.m. to 5.15p.m. on Sunday.

At the World Junior pair championship in Prague Tomas Mac Cormac (Dublin), and Mathew Carson (Charleville), sponsored by Cap Gemini, performed well to finish 16th out of 372 players. Andrew Barton with David Nolan (Dublin) and Michelle Mitchell (Galway) with Edward Fox (Kilkenny) also competed. The event was won by A. Gloyer, and B. Saurer(Austria). Runners-up were J. Geitner, and F. Doux(France).
