A high quality field of 88 players competed in the tournament which the Irish Bridge Union used to select two pairs to represent Ireland at the European open championship, scheduled for March 19th-24th in Sorrento, Italy.

The event resulted in John Carroll with Tommy Garvey, and Niall Toibin with Pat Walshe gaining the honours. Each pair received £800.
