THE Bankers' bridge congress will take place at 92-93 St Stephen's Green, Dublin, from March 13th to 21st. The intermediate A pairs (Irish Bankers' Club Trophy) will be decided over two sessions on the first Saturday (2.30 p.m.); as will the inter teams (First Active Trophy) on the first Sunday.
All the pairs events during the week will start at 7.30 p.m., with the inter B on Monday; the novice on Tuesday; the St Patrick's Day Gala on Wednesday; the mixed (IBOA Trophy) on Thursday; and the women's on Friday.
The major pairs (McKeever Rowan Trophy) will be over two sessions on the final Saturday (2.30 p.m.); as will the major teams (Irish Ferries Trophy) on the final Sunday. Among the prizes the team winners will receive £300, and the two-session pairs champions £250. Entries: Dave Mulhall (012984393).
The Anglo Irish Bank sponsored all-Ireland inter-county team championship (Burke Trophy) will be played over three sessions in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, on March 6th7th.
The 17th all-Ireland schools team championship (Burns Trophy), organised by Dr G.M. Keaveney, will be staged over three days at the Galway Centre, starting on March 5th (7.30 p.m.).
The 22nd Fermanagh congress will be held in the Manor House Country Hotel, Killadeas, Enniskillen, from March 19th to 21st. Brochures: Christy Shannon, Lisnarick Road, Irvinestown.
The South Munster Region is organising a simultaneous pairs tournament which may be played on March 22nd or 23rd. Clubs from outside the region are welcome to take part.
