The European Bridge Championships will be held in Tenerife next June. Ireland will send only an open team, as insufficient entries were received for the women's trials. T. Hanlon and Dr H. McGann have been selected directly. Dr G.M. Keaveney, R. Timlin, R. Boland and N. Toibin have been exempted from the preliminary test, and go through to the semi-finals, which will be played at the Regent, Waterloo Road, Dublin, next weekend.
As a result of the preliminary trials, the following will join Keaveney's team in the semi-finals: 1 (unsplit tie) D. and T. Garvey, M. O Briain, J. Carroll; 2, T. G. Mackenzie, Dr H. Campbell, D. Greenwood, D. MacAonghusa; 3, B. J. O'Brien, M. MacDonagh, T. Roche, P. O Briain.
