TUESDAY night witnessed the wildest party of the festival as around 2,000 guests partied very, very late into the night at the Palm Beach nightclub on the Croisette for a party to celebrate the Cannes launch of Trainspotting. There were almost as many bars as there were stars spread throughout the vast complex to cater for the thirsty throng who danced to the music of hot British band, Leftfield, who feature on the Trainspotting soundtrack and were flown in specially to perform on the night.
Former Britpop arch-rivals Noel Gallagher of Oasis and Damon Albarn of Blur were there, as were Mick Jagger, Spike Lee, Martin Landau, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julian Lennon, Kerry Fox and the Trainspotting team of writer John Hodge, producer Andrew MacDonald, director Danny Boyle and stars Ewan McGregor and Bobby Carlyle.
